An established highlight on the annual South African motoring calendar, the Festival of Motoring returns in 2022 to offer visitors of all ages an engaging, fully interactive celebration of modern mobility.

Hosted at the home of South African motorsport, Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, the 5th instalment of the Festival of Motoring aims to offer something for everyone when it comes to their favourite means of getting from A to B. From the slow-and-steady intricacies of off-road driving experiences to customer test drives and simulator experiences. Including the sights and sounds of a new maximum attack, on-track time-trial event, the Festival of Motoring is set to enthral visitors, young and old, from 26-28 August 2022.

Against the backdrop of one of the most iconic racing facilities in the world, plan for a full day of activities for family and friends alike with visits to each of the colour-coded display zones sited around the event.

Via a complimentary shuttle service to the venue, a stop at the Dunlop Grandtrek 4×4 Village Blue Zone includes a focus on off-road driving and overland fun. With displays and demonstrations from the likes of Jeep, Peugeot, Suzuki and even Volvo, plan to be enthralled by what latest-generation off-roading technology is capable of.

A key point of the day’s festivities, the Yellow Zone hosts a future-focused EV Village, karting and drifting experiences, Toyota urban trax, expert driver training and, importantly, an opportunity for visitors to get behind of the wheel of a potential future purchase. While a Biking Village is guaranteed to delight fans of two-wheeled mobility, the Yellow Zone also the place to be to witness the fury of Festival’s inaugural Speed Challenge. From latest-generation supercars to V8-powered muscle machines, this pseudo hill climb time attack event will see competitors race against the clock to negotiate eight of Kyalami’s most iconic corners before ending on the track’s modern start/finish straight.

Overlooking this finish line, the venue’s world-class pit-lane area will host the Festival’s Green Zone. Housed throughout this zone will be displays and interaction from some of South Africa’s leading automotive brands including Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Toyota, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Fiat, Mopar, Opel, Peugeot, Suzuki and Chery. Plan to spend time ogling a selection of high-end modern exotics as well as historic Formula 1 cars, while look to find a few pleasant interactive surprises in the pit garages.

The Green Zone continues onto the first floor of the pitlane building with numerous simulator experiences for all ages, static displays and interactions from customising houses and leading aftermarket brands, VIP hospitality and a viewing deck setup that will include the screening of the coinciding Belgian Formula 1 weekend.

A central point of the Festival, the Red Zone will offer family-focused entertainment, a selection of food stalls and a kid’s zone – overlooked by the ever-sophisticated returning House of Volvo display.

We want our guests of all ages to feel immersed in the experience of what the South African motoring landscape has to offer.  We believe that each carefully curated zone will cater to different needs and provide something for everyone”, says Show Director, Judy Maharaj.

From sights and sounds that highlight the evolution of combustion engine performance, to the stealth-like efficiency of future-focused all-electric mobility, the 2022 Festival of Motoring is poised to offer a pinnacle automotive experience. Tickets are on sale at both www.howler.co.za and at the main gate. General access tickets cost R250 per adult, and R50 for children between 3 and 12-years-old. Included within the ticket price is a complimentary shuttle service to the Festival, from Mall of Africa.
