Apollo Tyres has received a silver rating from EcoVadis for sustainability excellence for the third consecutive year. The company said its score has improved from 56 to 70 over the past three years and now ranks in the top 5% of companies globally in the category of “manufacture of rubber tyres and tubes, retreading and rebuilding of rubber tyres.” The company’s overall performance score improved to the 92nd percentile in FY24, up from the 82nd percentile the previous year.
Apollo also saw a 20-point increase in its labour and human rights ranking, and a 10-point increase in its sustainable procurement ranking from EcoVadis. Scores in the environment and ethics categories remained the same as the previous year.
The company said its improved scores are attributed to its efforts in strengthening suppliers’ ESG assessment, providing livelihood opportunities to local communities, particularly women, and focusing on human rights awareness through employee training.
EcoVadis said it evaluates companies’ performance based on four pillars: Environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.
