Nokian Tyres and renewable energy provider Enery have signed a long-term contract ensuring zero CO2 emission energy for Nokian Tyres new passenger car tyre factory in Oradea, Romania. In addition to the energy supply the contract enables Enery to construct a new solar power plant to southern Romania. The contract is valid from 2025 for 11 years.
Nokian Tyres new passenger car tyre factory in Oradea, Romania will operate entirely without fossil fuels, making it the world’s first full-scale tyre factory with zero CO2 emissions. Commercial production will start early 2025.
“The contract with Enery not only secures the zero CO2 emission energy supply for our new factory in Oradea Romania, but also allows Enery to build a new solar power plant in Romania, further supporting Europe’s green transition. The agreement also supports our long-term target to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emission level by 2050,” says Nokian Tyres SVP for Operation Excellence Adrian Kaczmarczyk.
