Nokian Tyres has introduced the FUTUREPROOF program, which it said focuses on tyre digitalisation, sustainability, and advanced manufacturing. This five-year initiative strengthens European on- and off-road mobility by connecting multiple industries, Nokian said. Business Finland has committed EUR 20 million (approx. $21 million), while an additional EUR 50 million (approx. $54 million) will support an ecosystem involving over 100 partners.
Advancing Mobility
“The FUTUREPROOF programme aims to respond to challenges such as climate change and increasing vulnerability of the global value chains with innovations across business, process, and technical domains. It drives growth for both Nokian Tyres and the ecosystem partners while creating concrete benefits for drivers,” said Paolo Pompei, President and CEO from Nokian Tyres.
Nokian Tyres said it and its partners will increase research, development, and innovation (RDI) investments. The manufacturer said this will potentially create hundreds of new jobs in Finland by 2034.

Business Finland has launched challenge competitions to fund RDI programs led by global innovators. Nokian Tyres serves as the ecosystem’s main driver, bringing together partner companies that contribute expertise and innovations to achieve shared goals.
