Three vehicles on GEOLANDAR tyres finished in the top 5.

Yokohama Rubber announced that a vehicle equipped with its GEOLANDAR tyres claimed the overall championship at the Asia Cross Country Rally 2025 (AXCR). The GEOLANDAR M/T G003 mud-terrain tires, designed for SUVs and pickup trucks, also powered overall champions in 2022 and 2023.

The #112 Mitsubishi Triton from Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, driven by Chayapon Yotha with co-driver Peerapong Sombutwong, took the top spot. Mitsubishi’s global one-ton pickup truck started strong, ranking second after the first two legs. By Leg 3, the team surged ahead and defended their lead through to the final Leg 8.

Despite vehicle issues and pressure from rivals, Chayapon and Peerapong maintained their pace and secured their first overall win since 2022. Rally organisers canceled Legs 4 and 6 due to safety concerns near the Cambodian border.

GEOLANDAR Tyres Dominate The Top 5

Three vehicles on GEOLANDAR tyres finished in the top 5. Alongside the champion Triton, the #110 ISUZU SUPHAN YOKOHAMA LIQUI MOLY RACING TEAM entry, driven by Ditsapong Maneein with co-driver Atikij Srimongkhol, finished fourth. Team Mitsubishi Ralliart’s #105 vehicle, piloted by Katsuhiko Taguchi with co-driver Takahiro Yasui, secured fifth place.

First staged in 1996, AXCR is an FIA-sanctioned event similar to the Dakar Rally. This year’s race started and finished in Pattaya, Thailand, covering more than 2,000 km. (approx. 1,240 miles). Drivers faced plantations, narrow forest roads, steep mountain paths, and surfaces ranging from sand to mud and rock. Heavy rain added deep puddles, pushing vehicles and tyres to the limit.

Yokohama’s Strategy And Motorsport Commitment

Yokohama said it designed the GEOLANDAR M/T G003 for long life and reliable performance on multiple off-road terrains. The tyres have also proven their capabilities in global off-road races in the United States and Mexico.
