Nokian Tyres launches Nokian Tyres Intuitu™ 2.0, the next-generation of smart tire technology featuring smart pressure assistant with load-sensing. The innovation is developed for Nokian Tyres Soil King VF tractor tires and provides agricultural professionals with a unique way to make the most out of their machines while maximizing productivity, lowering fuel consumption, protecting soil and extending tire life. The award-winning innovation also supports Nokian Tyres’ vision to lead the world to drive smarter.

Nokian Tyres Intuitu™ 2.0 Smart Pressure Assistant is a unique smart tire technology that uses built-in sensors inside the tires to calculate the tractor’s actual operating weight and usage conditions. Based on this data, it provides tire pressure recommendations directly to the user via a mobile application. Usually, this time-consuming process requires detailed calculations and costly equipment, but Nokian Tyres Intuitu™ 2.0 offers the data for the user in a fast and simple way. Correct tire pressures minimize soil compaction and help agricultural professionals make the most out of their equipment, making work more efficient, lowering operating costs and extending tire life.

“Our vision is to lead the world to drive smarter. By introducing Nokian Tyres Intuitu™ 2.0, we are offering agricultural professionals a groundbreaking technology that delivers clear, practical benefits to improve their daily work. This innovation takes Nokian Tyres another step closer to making that vision a reality,” says Paolo Pompei President and CEO of Nokian Tyres.

In September, Nokian Tyres Intuitu™ 2.0 received the Silver Medal of the Agritechnica Innovation Award selected by an independent jury of experts and presented by the German Agricultural Society DLG. The recognition is viewed as one of the most prestigious in the agricultural field.

Smart tire technology will be available for passenger car tires in the future

Nokian Tyres Intuitu™ is Nokian Tyres’ first commercial sensor technology adaptation. It was introduced in 2019, and since then developed further to give the users even more benefits for their daily work. From improving the work of agricultural professionals to providing valuable data to passenger car drivers and improving road safety in general, Nokian Tyres continues to develop smart tires.

“In the future, smart features in tires will increase further, and smart systems will also be available for passenger cars. They will help the driver to operate safely under changing conditions,” says Mika Penttilä, Head of Digital Technologies from Nokian Tyres, and continues:

“In the near future, tires will continuously communicate with vehicles’ brake and assist systems, generating real-time data on the condition of the road surface and the overall driving conditions. Furthermore, all the data can be compiled together, and the information can be made available to fleet owners, vehicle service shops, the authorities and road maintenance improving not only the safety of the vehicle but all road users.“
