Bridgestone South Africa has announced the local production of its premium all-terrain tyre, the Dueler A/T002, at its manufacturing facility in Brits, North West.
First launched in Europe in 2023, the Dueler A/T002 is now being produced locally for the first time, making it more accessible to South African drivers while supporting the country’s automotive localisation agenda. This move highlights Bridgestone’s commitment to investing in South Africa’s economy, developing local skills, and equipping drivers with tyres designed for both city roads and rugged terrain.
Developed using Bridgestone’s advanced Virtual Tyre Development technology, which reduces raw material use and CO₂ emissions during design, the Dueler A/T002 was created to handle all surfaces and weather conditions. With its innovative hexagonal block shape for traction on mud and asphalt, high-silica compound for superior wet grip, and a 40% mileage improvement compared to its predecessor, it is a versatile fit for South Africa’s diverse driving conditions.
“This is an exciting moment for Bridgestone South Africa,” says Jacques Rikhotso, Vice President of Bridgestone Africa Middle East. “By producing the Dueler A/T002 in Brits, we’re not only strengthening our local manufacturing capability but also giving South African drivers a tyre designed to meet their everyday needs from school runs and work commutes to weekend adventures in the bush. It’s about safety, performance, and confidence on any journey.”
The Dueler A/T002 draws on Bridgestone’s expertise as the exclusive tyre partner for the Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato, the world’s first supercar designed for both asphalt and off-road. Lessons learned from this partnership shaped the Dueler A/T002, bringing advanced design and performance to a wider market.
Available in 15 sizes (15–18 inches), the Dueler AT002 ensures drivers can tackle anything from highway drives to off-road adventures, with enhanced safety, durability, and performance.
